The alarm didn't ring — why?

The alarm is a notification, so Egg Timer needs notification permission. Check iOS Settings → Notifications → Egg Timer and make sure notifications and sounds are allowed. Also check that your iPhone isn't in a Focus mode that silences notifications, and that the ringer volume is up (the silent switch mutes notification sounds).

Does the timer keep running if I close the app?

Yes. The end time is fixed the moment you tap Start, and the alarm is scheduled with iOS itself — you can close the app, lock the phone, or use other apps. The eggs are announced on time either way.

Where is the Dynamic Island countdown?

The live countdown appears in the Dynamic Island on iPhone 14 Pro and newer, and on the Lock Screen on any iPhone running iOS 16.1 or later. If you dismissed it, the timer still runs inside the app.

How are the cook times calculated?

Each doneness level (Soft, Jammy, Hard) has a base time that is adjusted for the egg size you pick and whether your eggs come straight from the fridge. Times target eggs lowered into already-boiling water.

Yes. This version is completely free — no ads, no purchases, no account. The app also collects no personal data; details in the Privacy Policy.
